CNN anchor Alisyn Camerota, honored by the National Organization for Italian American Women (NOIAW) for her accomplishments in the field of journalism and her contributions to the Italian American community, will read from her book and talk about what it's like to be a woman in today's ever-changing world of broadcast news.
As a veteran broadcast journalist, Alisyn Camerota knows a little something about the fast-paced world of cable news. In her first novel, Amanda Wakes Up, she offers a fictional behind-the-scenes peek at this one-of-a-kind job-a blur of breaking news, big scoops, and colorful personalities. The book follows Amanda Gallo, an ambitious young reporter, who lands a plum gig at a big-time cable news station, but quickly learns her dream job isn't exactly a dream. Amanda Wakes Up is The Devil Wears Prada meets The Newsroom, with a dash of Primary Colors thrown into the mix.
Amanda Wakes Up is included in NPR's Guide to 2017's Great Reads.
