Trauma is frequently an issue for the clients we see. Most often individuals do not mention they have trauma issues, because they may not know themselves of their condition. One unspoken truth is that many therapists have unresolved trauma issues. The combination of clients not knowing and therapist discomfort leads to this very critical issue not being addressed in therapy. In this training we will examine trauma in the general culture.
Areas to be covered include:
Ways that trauma presents itself in life circumstances
Identify coping strategies that will assist with managing symptoms
Examine therapist countertransference issues
Explore methods of self-care as the helping professional
Setting realistic treatment goals
This course has been approved for 3 CEUs by the NM Counseling & Therapy Practice Board and is accepted by the NM Board of Social Work Examiners and NM Board of Psychologist Examiners.
Counselors - 3 CEUs / Social workers - 3 CEUs / Psychologists - 3 CEUs
