Phlebotomy Noncredit Course 

 

 

Phlebotomy (SEM 007) is a 39 hour noncredit course that will introduce students to basic phlebotomy principles and procedures including:

  • The clinical laboratory
  • Regulatory and legal issues
  • Safety and infection control
  • Venipuncture-procedures, complications and equipment
  • Basic anatomy and physiology and the circulatory system
  • Medical terminology 
  • Special blood collection
  • Quality assessment 

The comprehensive 13-week class brings both lecture and practice lab that provides a hands-on experience for each student to learn a variety of phlebotomy techniques. Blood draws will be performed on other class members under the direct supervision of the instructor.

After completing the classroom and lab practice component of the class, the student will receive a certificate of course completion and will be qualified to obtain entry-level employment as a phlebotomist in many clinical areas. 

Classes are held at the Brinkman Educational Center in downtown Springfield on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. 

Cost: $575 (includes textbook)
