Thank you for your interest in the 2018 State of the City Celebration. Registration for the event is now closed.

You may register in person if you have not registered already. If you are registered, please be sure to bring your ticket with you for the quickest access to the venue.

We are once again expecting a full house, and since San Jose City College will also be in session, we wanted to send out some information about transportation:

Tips for Getting to This Year’s State of the City

  1. Plan to Arrive Early. With students and event attendees headed to campus this evening, we can expect there be a greater than usual amount of traffic in the area. In addition, for those who are driving themselves to the event, it may take a bit longer than expected to find your parking spot (more on parking below). So, we encourage all guests to arrive early (doors will open at 6:00) and enjoy some of the pre-event entertainment.
  2. Consider Taking an Alternative Form of Transportation. To avoid the hassle of driving and parking, consider taking your favorite ridesharing service to City College or public transit. VTA bus lines 25, 61, 62, and 65 will bring you to City College. VTA’s Fruitdale light rail station is also about a mile’s walk from campus.
  3. Review Your Parking Options BEFORE Heading to the event. Attendees are welcome to parking in any open Student Lot spot they can find – however, given that we expect it to be a busy night on campus, we’ve secured a number of additional off-site parking locations that are within a 5-15 minute walk of the City College gym. These special event parking locations include:
    1. San Jose City College: - there will be Special Event Parking on the field south of the softball diamond (enter via Kingman Ave)
    2. Crossroads Bible Church (1670 Moorpark Ave.) – parking is available in the large lot on the corner of Moorpark and Menker
    3. Valley Medical Center (751 S Bascom Ave.) - the parking garage at the corner of Turner Dr. and Renova Dr.
    4. Sherman Oaks Elementary School (1800 Fruitdale Ave.).

We encourage you to review our Parking Map https://goo.gl/j84gGp so you are aware of the various parking options before you get in your car to head to City College. We also encourage attendees to consider going straight to one of the special event parking options to reduce the amount of time spent circling a Student Parking Lot searching for spot. We will also have dozens of event volunteers on/around campus and at each of these parking locations to help direct you.

For our guests that require ADA parking, every level of the parking garage had ADA parking. Every student lot on campus has ADA spaces that you may utilize, and we will be converting some parking spaces into ADA spaces in the lot next to the student garage just in case they are needed by those with disabilities. Please contact 408-535-4800 for more information on ADA parking accommodations.

Please be Considerate of the Surrounding Neighborhoods. Finally, on behalf of the residents who live near San Jose City College, we ask that you do not park in the adjacent neighborhoods (in fact, some of these streets are permit-parking only).

We look forward to hosting you on the 8th. Please remember to give yourself plenty of time to get to City College and make your way to the event.

Sincerely,
Team Liccardo
