Registration for this Competent Person Training is now closed due to capacity.

About this training:

Evergreen Habitat for Humanity is hosting a two-day Competent Person Training on February 28 and March 1 as a pre-conference option to Habitat Heroes. The training will take place in Vancouver, Washington -- a short drive from the DoubleTree in Portland.

What to expect: The two-day workshop will provide in-depth safety training for individuals designated as the affiliate’s “Competent Person” as defined by the Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). OSHA requires that every build has a Competent Person (CP) on-site to help recognize unsafe situations and to make necessary corrections in recognized high hazard areas. All affiliates are required to demonstrate that they have a certified Competent Person to be eligible for select HFHI funding and programs.

The training will cover four content areas:

  • Fall Protection
  • Scaffolding (types: fabricated, pump jack, and bracket)
  • General Jobsite Electrical Safety
  • Stairways and Ladders

Additional information for registrants:

Each participant is required to pass written exams during each segment of the training program with (70% or higher score). Re-testing can be offered; see instructor for more information. Laptops are not required for this course but may be useful study tools after the first day of training.
