2018 NACCTFO Legislative Conference
Mark your calendars now to be in Washington, D.C. on March 2nd!

NACCTFO workshops will be held at the Washington Hilton where a block of sleeping rooms is being held from February 28 - March 6. The room rate is $250/night. Reservations are being handled through NACo, so don't be alarmed if you see the NACo logo when clicking the above link to make your reservation. Please book before February 1st to guarantee the group rate! 

The NACo Legislative Conference will also be at the Washington Hilton and registration is now available. If you are planning to attend both NACCTFO and NACo, you may not need to make two reservations; rooms are based on availability. If you are not able to make one reservation for your entire stay, a separate booking through NACo for their portion of the conference will be required. You can remain in the same room for your entire stay. Visit NACo.org.

Thursday, March 1st (Optional)

Evening Field Trip: 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm Capitol Tour
The bus will leave the hotel for a nighttime tour of the Capitol at 7:00 and return at 9:30. Seating is limited to the first 50 attendees. If you are not planning to attend this tour, please email info@NACCTFO.org. At this time, the tour is not open to guests. If seats should become available, an email will be sent to all attendees.

Friday, March 2nd

Morning Session: 8:00 am - 11:00 am Economic Development Policy
Tax incentives are important economic development tools for county governments in the United States, but they tend to be complicated and difficult to understand. This session will explore tax incentives, including the theories behind them, how they work, and the implications for treasurers and tax collectors.

Afternoon Session: 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm Dealing with Public Information Requests in the Information Age
Public information requests can be intrusive and difficult to fulfill in a timely fashion, but they are an important part of public accountability. This session will explore the balance between transparency and sensitivity of public records, with a focus on the reasons behind freedom of information laws and policies on document retention and disposal.

Saturday, March 3rd

Morning Session: 8:15 am - 11:00 am Human Resources: Recruiting Good Employees
This session focuses on discussing basic principles and current trends in employee recruitment, as well as best practices of employee onboarding in public organizations, from a strategic management perspective. Topics include: recruitment tools and strategies, promoting diversity in recruitment and considering generational differences, effective employee orientation and onboarding.

Luncheon: 11:15 am - 1:15 pm NACCTFO Business Meeting

Afternoon Session: 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm Strategic Planning: Turning Your Vision into Action
Strategic planning helps organizations integrate their mission, vision, and values, with an eye towards moving forward in both the short and long-term. This interactive session will focus on the purposes and elements of the strategic planning process, with an emphasis on how county collectors or treasurers can use it to further their offices’ goals.

Cancellation Policy

Refund of conference registration fee, less an administrative fee of $25, will be made if a written notice of conference registration cancellation is received no later than January 31, 2018. Cancellation requests should be sent to info@NACCTFO.org. No refund requests will be honored for registrations cancelled after February 16, 2018 or for “no-shows.” Note: You are responsible for cancelling your hotel reservation.
