So You've Just Taken Over Your Library's Social Media?

2-Part Webinar (2/13/18 & 2/15/18) 


IMPORTANT: This is a 2-part webinar that meets Tuesday, February 13 and 15, 2018 from 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM, EDT. You must attend both sessions.

girl_library_confused.jpg It can be tricky taking on social media responsibilities for your org, especially on top of all your other duties. This hands-on session will help with that process, giving you an overview of the major social media platforms and why they're useful to libraries, and practical advice on how to prioritize, strategize and manage social media - either on your own or as part of a team.

Learning outcomes:

  • A deeper understanding of the various platforms - Twitter, Instagram, Blogs, Facebook - and how they work together and separately
  • See practical examples of social media policies, working practice, useful online tools (such as social media dashboards)
  • Begin to develop your own documents to assist you and other staff at your organisation run the social media accounts smoothly
  • Try out tools to help you analyze your social media outputs 

 

Virtual Trainer: Ned Potter

Ned Potter is an Academic Liaison Librarian at the University of York, where he also Chairs the Library Marketing and Communications Group. He has extensive experience in this area, not least because he's just written all the social media policies and staffing structures for his own institution!

Ned wrote The Library Marketing Toolkit published by Neal Schulman, has penned a social media column for Library Journal, and recently wrote a case study on Twitter for Ben Bizzle's book Start a Revolution: Stop Acting Like a Library. Cost: NEFLIN classes are free of charge for Florida library staff. Registration is required for all classes and NEFLIN members get priority.
