                        ~HIV, AGING, AND THE AIDS GENERATION: EXAMINING RESILIENCE~

                         Distinguished Guest Speaker Perry N. Halkitis, Ph.D., MS, MPH

Perry N. Halkitis, Ph.D., MS, MPH, is Dean and Professor of Biostatistics and Social and Behavioral Health Sciences at the Rutgers School of Public Health. He is also the founding Director for the Center for Health, Identity, Behavior, & Prevention Studies (CHIBPS) and the editor of Behavioral Medicine. Dr. Halkitis has additional appointments with the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, the Rutgers Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology, the Rutgers School of Public Affairs and Administration, and is also a member of the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. Dean Halkitis is known for his research on health disparities in the LGBT community with a focus on HIV and AIDS. His body of research includes the examination of the intersection between the HIV epidemic, drug abuse, mental health burden, and the factors that predispose these overlapping epidemics.

Dean Halkitis is a seasoned professional and the author of over 200 peer-reviewed academic manuscripts and numerous books. His last book, The AIDS Generation: Stories of Survival and Resilience, is a 2014 Lambda Literary award nominee and recipient of the American Psychological Association Distinguished Book Award in LGBT Psychology. Dr. Halkitis is currently working on his new book, Out in Time, which will examine the coming out life stories of gay men across three generations.
