Are you ready to help animals even MORE during disasters? Our Operations Level Small Animal Emergency Sheltering Course is certified by the Florida Department of Emergency Management! 

For the Love of Paws (in conjunction with Fellsmere City Hall) is hosting the 2 day FL-SARC Operations Level Small Animal Emergency Sheltering Class on Saturday, March 24 and Sunday, March 25, 2018.

Please join the Florida State Animal Response Coalition team, and with your help, we can be there to provide shelter and care for Florida's animals before, during and after a disaster.

Operations level will give you many new job options, in addition to leadership skills and team lead opportunities. 

Tuition for this class has been paid by a generous grant from the Florida Department of Emergency Management. Costs are incurred for each participant who registers. If you register, please honor your commitment to attend.

To be eligible to take this course, you must have proof of the following:

• FL SARC Awareness Level Small Animal Emergency Sheltering class.
• FEMA IS-100 (online and no charge)
• Current tetanus vaccine is HIGHLY recommended, but not required by FL-SARC. However, some of the agencies we work with MAY require it.

IS-100 and FL-SARC Awareness Level

with a request to register for this Operations Class to

Once approved, you will get an invitation

to register for the class.

To be FULLY certified as Operations Level you must also have proof of these courses and requirements prior to being deployed:

• FL SARC Operations Level Small Animal Emergency Sheltering class.
• FEMA IS-200 (online and no charge)
• FEMA IS-700 (online and no charge)
• Intro to HazMat IS-5.a (online and no charge)  **Other hazmat courses may qualify in place of this course. If you've completed another course, please contact us to see if it qualifies!**
• Animal Handling experience in a shelter or equivalent (10+ hours canine and 10+ hours feline) - state where you did your sheltering hours, dates, and what you did (feeding, cleaning, handling, assisting vet staff, behavior, walking, etc)
• Pet First Aid and CPR (PetTech, Pet Health Academy, C.E.R.T. or equivalent)
• Human First Aid/ CPR/AED (Red Cross, American Safety Training Institute, CERT, International CPR Institute, or equivalent) NOTE: currently expires every 2 years 
• Animal Handling Skills and Resume - just a couple short paragraphs to indicate your overall animal handling experience and to include where and when you completed your sheltering experience and tell us a little bit about yourself.
