Check-in for advanced sections (1100+): 8:10 - 8:30
Start Time: 8:45 am   End Time: ~5:30 pm

Check-in for intermediate section (800-1100): 8:30 - 9:00
Start Time: 9:45 am   End Time: ~5:00 pm

Check-in for all other sections (U800): 9:00 - 9:30
Start Time: 10:00 am   End Time: ~5:00 pm

Cost:  $20.00 per player through March 13th
Add $10 late fee March 14-15
Scholarships available based on need - contact TD
The tournament is limited to ~150 entrants - register now before it fills up!

This tournament is NWSRS-rated. No membership fee or prior tournament playing experience is required. New players get a free NWSRS rating. 

A portion of the proceeds will go towards the Children’s Book Bank. In low-income neighborhoods, the ratio of books to children is one book for every 300 children. Your participation will help increase kids’ access to books - any donation of children’s books is also welcome!

EQUIPMENT:

Please bring a chess clock if you have one. Boards and pieces will be provided.

AWARDS

  • Cash prizes for the top five entrants in the Kings section (1300+): $100 / $80 / $60 / $40 / $20.
  • In all sections, crystal trophies for the top 5 places. 
  • Medals for plus scores and two sportsmanship trophies also to be awarded.
  • Cash prizes based on 100 total registrations, modified at the discretion of the organizer if < 100 entrants.
  • Where necessary, computer tie-breaks (SCO) will be used. 

SECTION DETAILS: 

KINGS: For advanced players rated 1300+ in either USCF or NWSRS rating system. Four round Swiss, G45 + 5 sec delay. Notation and clocks required.

ROOKS: For players rated 1100-1299. Four round Swiss, G45 + 5 sec delay. Notation and clocks required.

BISHOPS: For players rated 800-1099 and unrated high-school players. Five round Swiss, G30 + 5 sec delay. Notation recommended. Clocks may be assigned and must be used if a director or player brings one to the table and the players both agree to use one. 

KNIGHTS: For players rated 600-799 and unrated middle-school players. Five round Swiss, G30 + 5 sec delay. Notation recommended. Clocks may be assigned and must be used if a director or player brings one to the table and the players both agree to use one. This section may be split into smaller sections based on the number of registrants and their ratings.

PAWNS: For players rated < 600 or unrated elementary-school players. Five round Swiss, G30 + 5 sec delay. Notation is not required. Clocks may be assigned and must be used if a director or player brings one to the table and the players both agree to use one. This section may be split into smaller sections based on the number of registrants and their ratings.
