The integration of 3D information utilizing CBCT and CAD/CAM technologies has facilitated the concept of prosthetically-based dental implant planning, and has improved the accuracy and efficiency of dental implant surgery, resulting in more predictable and successful implant restoration. It also enhances communication between surgical and restorative specialists.

CT-Guided dental implant planning and surgical techniques are far superior to traditional methods. Less invasive surgical procedures, awareness of anatomical challenges ahead of time, increased precision of implant placement, reduced surgical time, and enhanced patient recovery are just a few of the benefits.

One of the major impediments to the adoption of these powerful tools in clinical practice has been the perception of complexity and of a steep learning curve. In fact, these techniques are simple to master and simplify the surgical and restorative implant workflow.

Learning Objectives:

  1. To understand how 3D technology is used to improve the accuracy and consistency of dental implant placement.
  2. Learn the ways that integration of CBCT and CAD/ CAM will improve surgical diagnosis and treatment.
  3. Recognize that the learning curve to design digital restorations and plan implant surgery is not steep.
  4. Learn how the CAD/CAM workflow works in clinical practice.
  5. See how the use of CBCT and CAD/CAM helps enhance interaction and relationships between clinicians and sets your practice apart from the others.

About the Speaker:

Dr. Jay Reznick was one of the first North American adopters of fully-guided, prosthetically-based implant surgery and was the first specialist in the U.S. to integrate CBCT and CAD/CAM in his practice. He has taught dentists about basic and advanced implant dentistry, surgery, and 3D digital technology for the last 2 decades. Dr. Reznick has published extensively in the dental and medical literature, and founded the educational website OnlineOralSurgery.com. He lectures frequently at dental meetings and educational conferences, as well as giving live training courses to dentists from all over the world.

Dr. Reznick is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He received his undergraduate Biology degree from CAL-Berkeley, Dental degree from Tufts University, and his M.D. degree from the University of Southern California. He did his internship in General Surgery at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena and trained in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at L.A. County- USC Medical Center.

Dr. Reznick is also a consultant to a number of manufacturers and suppliers of dental and surgical instruments and equipment, and is on the Editorial Advisory Boards of a number of dental journals.  He is the Director of the Southern California Center for Oral and Facial Surgery in Tarzana, California.
