Starting a Business Successfully

Our main speaker is a serial entrepreneur with over 40 years of experience starting, buying, running, and selling small businesses. He will help you explore what it takes to be an entrepreneur, how to develop a business concept, and how to plan for becoming a business owner. He will explain your choices for owning a business and guide you to get the help you need to succeed.  Also, we have arranged for Julie Brown, a research librarian from Austin Public Library, to attend to discuss how to use research resources to tailor your business to the marketplace and Kyle de Haas to discuss purchasing a franchise as a means to business ownership.

Speakers: Willis Wolf, Julie Brown, and Kyle de Haas

Willis is a SCORE volunteer and mentor who started several small businesses including medical business software (operated for 25 years and sold to partner) and medical billing (operated 10 years and still owner). He bought several existing businesses that he operated, fixed problems, and sold to competitors or investors. Also, he was involved in several other small businesses. Julie Is a research librarian at the Austin Public Library, and Kyle is with Fran Net.
