Media relations can often be an effective way to share your organization's story a large audience. But what are the best ways to work with news outlets? Learn the basics of effective media relations and outreach. Specifically, you will learn how to properly develop, target, time and submit effective, "newsworthy," and relevant press releases and pitches about your organization, as well as key tips for working with reporters.

At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to
  • Identify key media contacts for your organization
  • Develop media materials and effective story pitches
  • Evaluate best strategy to communicate your story to the media


Early-Bird Nonprofit Rate (through April 3, 2018): $25
Nonprofit Rate (after April 3, 2018): $35
Market Rate (applies to for-profit agencies): $100 per person

This workshop has a LATE CANCELLATION FEE of $150. This means if you register, and do not attend or send a substitute, your organization will be billed $150. The deadline to cancel without penalty is April 10, 2018.

The Presenters 

Allison Ryan began her career in broadcast news as an assignment editor and producer before moving to public relations and communications consulting. During her tenure at a leading independent agency, Allison focused on brand-building public relations for companies such as Cincinnati Children's, Kroger, Starkist, Birds Eye and Macy's, and led national media relations efforts for product and service brands. Allison has trained dozens of executives and celebrity spokespersons for national media tours, targeted news interviews, and for issues and crisis situations.

Libby Korosec is director of client strategy for Enquirer Media.  She is responsible for supporting local market growth goals through client strategy, business development and B2B marketing activities. She leads a team of talented marketers, artists and strategists to help strengthen Enquirer Media’s sales organization.  She is also a member of Enquirer Media’s executive leadership team.

She is an alumnus of Leadership Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Business Courier’s 40 Under 40. She received her B.A. in political science from Miami, Ohio and her M.A. in journalism from Ohio State.  She lives in Anderson Township with her two children.
