Join Hoag Head & Neck Cancer Program’s multidisciplinary team as they discuss the rise of human papillomavirus (HPV) and its connection to oral cancer. HPV is the most commonly diagnosed sexually transmitted disease in the U.S. and is one of the highest risk factors for oral cancers, particularly in the upper throat and base of the tongue. This course will review the prevalence of HPV, appropriate ways to screen for HPV during oral exams, and the role a multidisciplinary team plays in the treatment and management of patients with oral cancer, including surgery, radiation therapy, medical oncology, speech therapy, dietitian support and nurse navigation.
