Session One- Tuesday, January 16^th, 2018                 

John Hamilton, LMFT, LADC, Mountainside 

“Parents as providers of primary substance abuse prevention – Skills to help your child make good choices “ 

John Hamilton has been assisting HVCASA with prevention programs for several decades. John has been a consultant for the National Institute for Drug Abuse (NIDA) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration (SAMHSA). Hamilton currently chairs the advisory board for the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) and serves on the Governors Alcohol and Drug Policy Council. He also has led an addiction treatment organization as CEO while simultaneously maintaining a successful private practice.

Session Two- Tuesday, February 13^th, 2018

Elizabeth Driscoll Jorgenson, CADC, Director, Insight Counseling*

            “Youth Stress and Anxiety- Where is it coming from, how do we address the causes and help reduce this problem affecting so many young people”

Elizabeth Jorgensen is a nationally recognized expert in substance abuse counseling, with over 26 years in the field. She is also a consultant to independent schools and agencies and is a popular speaker on parenting pre-teens and teenagers. She has presented nationally, including at Harvard University and Dartmouth College. She is also a recipient of a Congressional Award for her work as an educator and community prevention activist. Liz is a gifted speaker who has been on the board of Directors at HVCASA for several terms over the past 20 years. 

Session Three- Tuesday, March 13^th, 2018

Speaker - Kelly Collier, LMSW and School Counselor at Immaculate HS

“4What’s Next?” -a program of workshops for juniors and seniors in high school that helps navigate some of the challenges that they face after graduation. 

All programs 7-8:30 pm at HVCASA, 69 Stony Hill Road, Bethel, CT
