Luncheon & General Meeting
Modernizing Florida’s Constitution
presented by
Constitutional Revision Commissioner Erika Donalds
The Government Committee is pleased to feature as our January speaker Erika Donalds who serves on the Constitutional Revision Commission. Every 20 years since 1977, a Commission is appointed to examine and propose changes to Florida’s Constitution. The 2017-2018 will be the third time the Commission has convened.
Erika Donalds will provide insight into the Constitutional Revision Commission, the current status of the process, and how citizens can continue to be involved as the Commission moves proposals through to the ballot in November 2018. The proposals on the ballot require 60% voter approval in order to pass. She will discuss her sponsored proposals as well as the proceedings of the Local Government Committee, on which she serves as Chair. Her concurrent Committee assignments in addition to Government Chair include; Declaration of Rights, Education and Rules and Administration.
Commissioner Erika Donalds is a fourth generation Floridian from Tampa, Florida. She was elected to the Collier County School Board in 2014. Commissioner Donalds passion for education is exhibited by her extensive community involvement.
