Police Response to Critical Incidents (Ocean County)

Law enforcement officers are often called upon to handle critical and unpredictable incidents. However, many law enforcement agencies fail to properly train their officers in managing such incidents. This course is designed to prepare both officers and their supervisors in the handling of critical incidents.

The foundation of this course is derived from critical incident case law. By analyzing various court decisions, the officer will learn how to make decisions within the boundaries of this established case law and minimize their agency’s exposure to civil liability.

Some of the topics covered include:

  • Legal Basics of Federal Civil Right’s Claims
  • Training
  • Proper Decision to use a SWAT Team
  • Use of Force
  • Use of Force, 3rd Circuit Cases
  • Use of Force and EDP’s
  • Warrantless Entries
  • Criminal Barricaded Suspects
  • EDP Barricades

Cost:  $85 per officer
