College and Career Conference

What are your plans after high school? Not sure where to start?

Come learn more at the

4th Annual Launch Your Dream College and Career Conference. 

  • This event is designed for high school students, young adults and parents or adult mentors.  
  • The event features a College and Career Fair, College and Career Advising, and workshops on Writing Essays, Financial Aid and the College-going Experience.

This event is FREE but please register to be eligble for door prizes.  There will be FREE parking and food.

Schedule for the Evening

5:15 pm             Doors Open 

5:30 - 7:00pm   Over 30 College and Career Fair representatives plus College and Career Advising

Workshops

      Session A:  6:00 - 6:45 pm 

1) Financial Aid Basics:  An overview of the financial aid process, types of financial aid and scholarships, and the FAFSA process from the State Scholarships and Grants Division of the Michigan Dept. of Treasury (Recommended for juniors, seniors, and adults)

2) The College Going Experience (Youth-led Keynote):  The Waverly High School College Ambassadors will facilitate a panel with current high school and college students on the importance of college, how it's different from high schook, and the steps to take to be ready. (Recommended for students)

    Session B:  7:00 - 7:45 pm

College Essays-Myths and Facts:  Everyone has a story to tell.  These stories are the foundation of a great college or scholarship essay.  Join WOW Writing Workshop for this fun session with practical tips on writing an essay that will get you noticed by college admissions reps.  (Recommended for students)

7:45 pm      Door Prizes and Evaluation
