QUALITY ASPHALT PAVING  -- BEST PRACTICES IN THE FIELD

By popular demand, CalAPA is pleased to offer an intensive, half-day training class on "Quality Asphalt Paving." New pavement specifications, technology and owner expectations  are changing faster than you can say "goodbye incentives, hello deductions." In this fast-paced class, longtime paving company owner turned asphalt pavement consultant Skip Brown  will provide a practical, "boots on the ground" course for what makes for a high-quality paving operation, best practices as well as how to identify and avoid problems.  What you don't know can cost you!

Brown (pictured) is a noted expert in the asphalt pavement industry and second-generation paving company owner Skip Brown who now services as a consultant to the public and private sector on paving strategies, maintenance and other expertise. Over his long career he has personally supervised the placement of more than 4 million tons of asphalt on California streets, highways and parking lots.

The class will cover the basics of asphalt pavement design, binders & aggregates, current specifications, hauling operations, paving & rolling, compaction & finishing, thin-lifts, fabric, slurry seal and safety best practices. Skip's lively and engaging presentation style and personal stories make the class fun and memorable!

Who should attend? This class is ideal for asphalt pavement contractors, public works paving crews, supervisors, inspectors and others who care about delivering a quality paving job.

Bonus! All class attendees will receive a reference booklet that includes copies of the slide presentation, key acronyms, glossary and other reference items for future use. Attendees will also receive a handsome certificate of completion documenting that they have completed four (4) Professional Development Hours (PDH) of technical instruction.

Registration for this class will be on a first-come, first served basis for the first 30 people registered. On-line registration is required and must be completed by clicking on the "Register Now" button below. For registration questions, please contact Ritha Nhorn of CalAPA at (916) 791-5044.
