Trends, Drivers and Innovation
Is Your Organization Prepared
for the Future?

Wednesday, February 7, 2018
4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Please join the Washington Network Group when we meet with James Stockmal, President of the Association for Strategic Planning (ASP). Jim will lead a conversation on future Trends, Drivers and Innovation, exploring with us what every organization should be thinking about in the New Year and beyond.

James Stockmal

About this Event:

A key component of any strategy development process is doing an environmental scan. In this conversation, Jim will provide an overview of some of the demographic, economic, social and technological trends that are driving companies, government agencies, non-profits, and NGOs to think differently about strategies for the future.

For example:
  • The UN estimates that the median age will rise from 30 in 2015 to 39 by 2050. Life expectancy is also increasing globally. The population over 60 is the fastest growing segment and is expected to double by 2050. How are firms taking advantage of this opportunity? What additional stress will this cause on families, governments?
  •  By 2020, 60% of the world's population will be living in cities. By 2050 it will be more than 66%. Increased urbanization will place further stress on water resources, sanitation, and basic municipal and city services. Is there an opportunity for a public-private partnership to address these daunting challenges?
  • Technological innovation over the past ten years has exploded, often further stressing out our ability to absorb all the changes. Are we at a breaking point? Innovation may hold the key to addressing these changes.

Jim will provide several examples of innovative solutions developed by business executives and social entrepreneurs to take advantage of these drivers of change and/or to ease some of the potential negative implications they present.
