The key to building strong relationships with our children is not a product of a punishment or consequence given in a moment in time -- but rather investing the time and effort to gain a greater knowledge and understanding of who our children are as people, as learners, and as physical, emotional and spiritual beings.

Melanie Prager, J.D., C.P.E., is Summit Center's Parent Educator and the Founder and Director of Enlightened Parenting. Melanie is the mother of three boys (teenage twins and an 11-year-old), two of whom are twice exceptional/2e. She has been trained and is certified in numerous parenting programs including Positive Discipline, Redirecting Children's Behavior, Supporting the Emotional Needs of the Gifted (SENG) and Reflective Parenting. Melanie says, “Gaining greater under-standing and knowledge about who our children are ignites the sparks of our childrens’ potential and creates long lasting and loving relationships for life.” Previously, Melanie was a Deputy District Attorney in Los Angeles County and the Co-Director of Empowered Parenting.
