2018 Harvest Moon Regatta

The event once dubbed “A Howling Good Time” by Cruising World is back!

Founded in 1987, the annual Harvest Moon Regatta event has grown from just under 20 boats to more than 200 boats. We are proud of our South Coast Sailing Adventures teams who have placed in the top 3 winners for their class over the years!

The 150-nautical mile race begins at the Pleasure Pier (Flagship Hotel Pier) in Galveston and follows the Texas coast to Port Aransas over the course of 2 days and 2 nights -- when the night sky is dominated by the beautiful harvest moon. It’s the perfect opportunity to gain offshore sailing experience or add to your sailing certifications.

In addition to a trip down the coast, sailors will enjoy a barbeque banquet in Port Aransas, a Race Finish Party and the Rum Mary Party. Everyone is invited to participate as a crew member; we are also offering ASA 103/104 Combo (Basic Coastal Cruising & Bareboat Chartering) and ASA 106 (Advanced Coastal Cruising) during this event.*

*All prerequisites for ASA courses must be completed prior to departure.

Schedule of Events

Wednesday, 10/24: Check-in at SCSA; pre-boarding & provisioning; depart for Galveston

Wednesday, 10/24: Head Start Party & overnight stay at Laguna Harbor

Thursday, 10/25 2:00 pm: Race begins

Saturday, 10/27 time TBA: Arrival in Port Aransas. Barbeque banquet, Awards Presentation & Sailor Rum Party

Sunday, 10/28 time TBA: Official race finish & Rum Mary Party

Sunday, 10/28 time TBA: Depart Port Aransas for Galveston return trip (ASA 103/104 underway)

Wednesday, 10/31 time TBA: Arrival at Kemah Boardwalk Marina (arrival time/date depends upon weather)

ASA 103/104 Combo Port Aransas to Galveston Only - $1,095*

One-way with no certifications - $1,195

Roundtrip with no certifications - $1,995
