Therapeutic Use of Games in Directive Play Therapy - Beginner in MD

Description:

In this engaging and interactive training, participants will gain a greater knowledge of how to choose appropriate games and engage clients in ways that work towards achieving their therapeutic goals. Participants will learn how games can be used to assess behavior, determine whether games are appropriate for the individual child’s treatment, and learn how to make a game more than just a game—but a therapeutic experience. Additionally, participants will learn a large array of therapeutic benefits of games and a variety of new games to incorporate into their practice. The training will demonstrate how to use specific games for children with different common diagnoses as well as incorporate the family.

Objectives:

  • Identify specific games that can be used for ADHD and impulse control
  • Describe how to interact with clients therapeutically while playing games in play therapy
  • Demonstrate how to engage families in play therapy sessions using game play
  • Identify methods for documenting use of games in play therapy
  • Demonstrate use of games through play therapy role play activities
