The District 181 Foundation is an independent non-profit organization, composed of an all-volunteer board.  Its mission is to inspire community involvement and support for education through partnerships, programs and events that enhance District 181's achievement of its vision for our community's schools.

Since 1997, the District 181 Foundation has invested over $1,000,000 in our schools.

 The District 181 Foundation is proud to host this special evening for District 181 students and their families to celebrate, share and encourage writing.  

Thursday, February 22 2018

6:00pm - 9:00pm at Hinsdale Middle School

Students - share something you have written.  Each 3rd - 8th grade student writer will have an opportunity to read his or her original written work to a small group of peers. Students will be able to share something they have created and also offer their peers feedback, encouragement and support in their writing.  

Students and familiy members - participate in fun Learning Sessions about different aspects of writing.  Topics will include:  "Creating Strong Characters" - "The Hero's Journey" - "Finding Focus in Writing" - "Comic Book Art and Storytelling"  and more...

Everyone - meet author Eric Kahn Gale and learn about how he became a writer , as well as what inspires his book ideas.

Everyone - join the fun at the Open Mic Coffee House - students, parents, teachers- enjoy some refreshments and listen to students who have signed up to share a poem, prose or song they love with the whole group that is their original writing or a favorite piece written by another author.
