Taste of Hope 2018 - The Fourth Annual Wellspring Women's Center Benefit

Join us for the 4th Annual Taste of Hope Event to benefit Wellspring. This year's event will be all about our Journey of Hope, where guests will enjoy tasting stations and an exciting event in motion. Eat delicious local food, have a glass of wine, bid at the silent auction, enjoy a short but dynamic program, and take the journey with us!

Wellspring Women’s Center just celebrated 30 years of service to the Oak Park and Greater Sacramento Community! We are excited for what the future holds and are looking towards our 31st year and the a successful 4th Annual Taste of Hope event to benefit the women and children that have depended on Wellspring for so many years and who will depend on us for many years to come.

This year’s event will be a little different than the last. We will be hosting Taste of Hope on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the Mack Powell Event Center, 2003 Howe Avenue, and the theme will be a Journey of Hope. Instead of a seated dinner, we will be hosting a dinner in motion. Guests will be treated to a journey through tasting stations that represent the core programs here at Wellspring. The “tasting” theme is carried throughout the event, with 4-6 tasting stations set up along the perimeter of the room. Along with delicious local dishes from Sacramento chefs, each station would also feature a spotlight on a programming area of Wellspring, like the Women’s Wellness Program or the Children’s Corner, for example, giving attendees a taste of what Wellspring is all about.

Attendees have more time to enjoy what many consider the best part of an event - eating and drinking, visiting with friends, making connections, and exploring and discovering more about the organization they have come to support. Guests will have a table to call home while at the event and we will have a short program with speakers who reflect the struggle and success of the women who have benefited from our services.  Our emcee and auctioneer will be Dr. BJ Snowden, who currently serves as the Dean of Visual & Performing Arts and Language & Literature at Folsom Lake College, serves as board president for the Sacramento non-profit Closing the Gap, and frequently presents on issues of social justice and equity at local, regional, and national educational conferences. We are excited to have him on the team as he will be a great addition to this annual event.

Wellspring is able to provide critical services to an average of 200 guests each weekday due in part to this event and the generous support of donors, foundations, and corporate partners. Taste of Hope signifies 12% of our annual budget and your sponsorship will help us get there. We will have a plethora of different ways to support Wellspring for this event, whether that be as a Journey of Hope tasting station sponsor where you will be able to showcase your company as people are enjoying this “dinner in motion,” or a Taste of Hope Table Sponsor where you can treat your guests to a special night of great food and good company, this will be an event to remember. You can also join us as a guest, and/or donate a silent auction item or raffle prize. For more information please call Jodi Mulligan-Pfile at 916.454.9688 x205 or email her at jodi@wellsprignwomen.org.

This event is as fancy as we get here at Wellspring. We are a tried-and-true neighborhood gathering place with the simple goal to help reduce isolation and loneliness by honoring our mission to provide hospitality with dignity and love to our community.  What does “hospitality” mean to Wellspring? It means that we create programs like our Nutritious Meal Program, Women’s Wellness Program, Safety Net Services Program, and Children’s Corner Program, that treat each individual the way we would want to be treated. We don’t judge and our services are completely free of charge to any woman or her child. We do this each day with a welcoming spirit, a sense of hope, and the will to love each other even on our worst days.

Will you join us on this Journey of Hope? Whether you buy a ticket or become a sponsor for Taste of Hope 2018, you will be supporting the continued efforts here at Wellspring. This event will feature an evening of great food, wine, and beer, a short program with dynamic storytelling, a silent auction, raffle, wall of wine auction, and fund-a-need event, and you will be joined by over 200 local supporters like yourself. Your contribution improves the lives of women and children here in Sacramento and helps to continue a legacy of service for the next 30 years!

Gratefully,

The Wellspring Women’s Center Staff & Board of Directors
