Conversation & Dinner: Citizenship in Times of Crisis

We will discuss recent disturbing trends, such as political disengagement, disinformation and distrust of major institutions and the media. Together, we’ll distill what can make us feel defeated, and what can carry us beyond that. Guests will also share their own concerns about today’s social challenges, leading to a conversation in search of new perspectives and paths forward individually and collectively.

This event is designed to engage guests of different ages and backgrounds who can share their lived experience, and the concerns of their peers. Together, we will build ideas to navigate these times of increasing political dysfunction, and to forge new relationships to boost civic service.
Our exploratory conversation will be led by Kim Stafford, the author of a dozen books of poetry and prose, and the director of the Northwest Writing Institute and a long-time professor at Lewis & Clark. Each participant will receive a copy of his book, The Flavor of Unity: Post-Election Poems.
