2018 Spring Youth Shoot - May 19-20

This is a special 2-day event to offer youth the chance to camp, shoot, and compete.

All trophies, certificates, patches, etc. will be awarded early Sunday afternoon. Please plan to attend the award ceremony to recognize the achievements of these young shooters! First place trophies and second and third place medals will be awarded in each discipline, and youth participants can earn NRA / Winchester Marksmanship Program certificates, shields, and rockers.

Group camping is available for the weekend at no cost. Come on out Friday and set up camp. We ask only that you contact Dillon Sportsman Center in advance for more details.

Activities include a firearm safety class for all new shooters, archery, .22 rifle, and trap shooting for beginners, and introduction to handgun and skeet activities for more experienced attendees. Participants must be under the age of 18 at the time of the event to qualify as a youth.

Participation of youth under 9 years old will be evaluated on an individual basis. Any youth presenting a hunters education card or proof of safe gun handling training (NRA certificates, merit badge cards, etc.) will not be required to attend the Saturday morning class. ALL shooters who do not have PROOF of previous firearm experience will be REQUIRED to attend the Saturday morning class BEFORE handling any firearms.

Shooting sports merit badge requirements can be met during this event for BSA, Venturing, HG, 4H, etc. If you need the rifle or shotgun merit badge, don't forget to bring a blue card signed by your unit leader!

You can buy lunch on Saturday and Sunday for $5 each. Event T-shirts will be available for $10 and can be personalized for a small additional fee.

Youth may register to participate for $5.00 each. We're also looking for Adult Volunteers.

About Dillon Sportsman Center:

The property includes the following:

  • Range house with full restroom facilities, retail store and classroom.
  • 100 yard rifle range with shelter and lighting.
  • 25 yard pistol range with shelter and lighting.
  • Skeet and Trap fields with automated clay throwers.

Shooting positions on the rifle range utilize heavy concrete benches with adequate space to stand and have side tables for all your gear. Moveable target stands are on site.

Shooting positions on the pistol range utilize large standing lanes with forward benches for your gear. One lane is a seated position with table, ideal for precision handgun shooting or shooters with special needs such as wheel chair access. The pistol range also includes stationary and moveable target stands.

Skeet and trap fields are fully automated on regulation fields with lighting for night shoots.

Adult cost is $7 per hour per shooter on the rifle and pistol ranges. Pro-rated after the first hour. Youths aged 15 and younger shoot for free on the rifle and pistol ranges when accompanied by paying adult. Skeet and trap is $7 per round (25) of clays for all ages.
