"Named for the late bluegrass legend Bill Monroe, bluegrass quintet Monroe Crossing performs some of the most joyful music I’ve ever heard. They played two vibrant sets this evening, combining woeful lyrics with a banjo sound so bouncy, I couldn’t stop smiling. " - Uncommon Place Blog

Named in honor of Bill Monroe, Monroe Crossing dazzles audiences with an electrifying blend of classic bluegrass, bluegrass gospel, and heartfelt originals.

Since the year 2000, Monroe Crossing has released 15 CDs and a live concert DVD, with their latest release being “Monroe Crossing Plays Classic Country". They have  made more than 1500 concert appearances throughout the United States, Canada and Europe.

The secret to the band’s longevity and success? According to fiddler and lead singer Lisa Fuglie, “It’s just plain hard work and dedication. We all share a love for bluegrass music and for performing on stage. We appreciate every audience, large or small, and understand that we’re there for them, not the other way around.”

Their many honors include:

  • Best Female Vocalist, Best Guitar, Best Mandolin and Best Banjo at the Minnesota Bluegrass & Old-Time Music Association’s 25th Anniversary Awards Banquet 2000
  • The only Bluegrass band ever nominated as the Minnesota Music Academy “Artist of the Year,” 2003
  • "Bluegrass Album of the Year" by the Minnesota Music Academy 2003
  • Official Showcase Band at the International Bluegrass Music Association’s (IBMA) World of Bluegrass Convention in Nashville 2007
  • Inducted into the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame 2007
  • Appeared twice at Carnegie Hall in New York City, presenting Carol Barnett's "The World Beloved: A Bluegrass Mass" 2006, 2013
  • The first Minnesota bluegrass band to ever perform in South Korea 2016

Their airtight harmonies, razor sharp arrangements, and on-stage rapport make them audience favorites across the United States and Canada.
