SHARE! Advanced Peer Specialist Training starts March 2, 2018

SHARE! Advanced Peer Specialist Training is a free class for peers in the mental health system. It consists of three consecutive courses:

  1. Peer Services 101
  2. SHARE! Peer Toolkit
  3. Peer Bridging

Participants will earn a certificate for each course they successfully complete.

Now registering for Peer Services 101:

Peer Services 101, which includes seven days of instruction along with homework assignments and required self-help support group attendance, will be held from Friday, March 2 to Saturday, April 14, 2018. You can expect to spend at least 10 hours a week in addition to the seven days of classtime. Please do not apply if this does not fit your schedule.

CLASS DATES March 2 to April 14, 2018:

Friday, March 2 from 11 am to 5:30 pm

Saturday, March 3 from 9 am to 3:30 pm

Friday, March 16 from 11 am to 5:30 pm

Saturday, March 17 from 9 am to 3:30 pm

Friday, April 6 from 11 am to 5:30 pm

Saturday, April 7 from 9 am to 3:30 pm

Saturday, April 14 from 11 am to 5:30 pm

(This class will also be offered from April 20 to June 2, 2018.)

  

ALSO AVAILABLE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH LMU: SHARE! also offers this three-course series in conjuction with Loyola Marymount University with a focus on Transition-Age Youth--intended for transition-age youth and parent partners. This class, Peer Specialist to Youth, which are held on weekdays, will also be held at SHARE! Culver City. This class has a separate registration process. Who is eligible?

  • Adults with lived experience of mental health issues, or the family member of someone with mental health issues, or the parent/caregiver of a child with mental health issues.
  • No previous training required.
  • The ideal candidate is employed  in the mental health system. Eligible roles include Mental Health Peer Advocates, Peer Partners, Peer Specialists, Peer Support, Parent Partners, Peer Employment Specialists, Peer Housing Specialists, Homeless Outreach, Peer Bridgers, Recovery Coaches, Wellness Outreach Workers (WOW), Community Workers, Promotoras as well as other such positions.
  • People who attend self-help support groups..

To earn certificate, students must attend each class, complete homework assignments, conduct field investigations, attend self-help support groups and pass a final examination.
