Compassion fatigue, also known as secondary trauma, is very real and often difficult to manage. Listening and responding to our clients’ histories of trauma can have serious emotional and behavioral consequences for us as service providers. This workshop will explore secondary trauma, as distinct from stress and burnout, and will cover indicators, coping strategies, and self-care ideas to assist professionals, advocates, and others who may often feel overwhelmed in their roles as helpers. CEUs will be provided.
