Yoga and Trauma Resolution 6-week Series

The Tristate Trauma Network and its initial and longest-standing funder, Interact for Health, are committed to increasing the practice of trauma-responsive care in our community.  Trauma-responsive care goes beyond understanding trauma and its effects to providing interventions that seek to alleviate trauma symptoms and lead to a higher level of functioning. One of the techniques gaining notoriety and momentum, as well as research backing, is Yoga that is specifc to trauma resolution.

***TTN Members ONLY are welcome to join us for this 6-week, experiential, intensive experience with local Certified Yoga Instructor and Miami University Adjunct Professor, Anne Minter.

This is a 6-week course on the topic of yoga and trauma. We will meet 6 times in 2018, to engage with this topic, offering a combined lecture/practice (yoga class) experience at each meeting. Participants will gain knowledge on the relationship between yoga and trauma, and in-body experience of that knowledge through the evidence-based yoga practices specific for the treatment of trauma. In addition, participants will have weekly reading on trauma-related topics and optional short writing/reflection/response assignments.

Outcomes for this 6-week course on trauma:

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:• Define trauma in all its various forms • Identify the symptoms and indicators of trauma and understand what is necessary for recovery• Understand the impact of trauma on human anatomy and physiology (specifically, the brain, endocrine system, and nervous system)• Understand how specific yoga practices can resolve trauma • Know 10 yoga techniques (TCTSY and KY forms) used for the adjunctive treatment of trauma.
