Eating Disorders on the Frontline

This training event will award 2 contact hours for LMSW and LCSW with the NYSED State Board for Social Work and 2 contact hours for LMHC and LMFT with the NYSED State Board for Mental Health Practitioners and 2 CASAC renewal credits.

This workshop will explore the multidimensional nature of eating disorders. The development and continuum as well as the functions and  the purpose of eating disorders  will be addressed. We will go over  changes in the DSM 5, especially with regards to Binge Eating Disorder. Effective treatment options will be outlined ranging from integrating trained nutritionists and therapists into the recovery plan to out patient, group, intensive outpatient, day treatment, residential and partial and full hospitalization.

Presented by:  

Sondra Kronberg, MS, RD, CEDRD is a certified eating disorders specialist and clinical nutritionist with 30 years of experience as a recognized leader in the field of nutrition, wellness and eating disorders. She is the Founder and Executive Director of Eating Disorder Treatment Collaborative, Eating Wellness Programs and F.E.E.D. IOP, Connect and Concierge Treatment Programs of New York. Sondra specializes in the treatment and training of the collaborative approach to eating wellness. She is the author of the Comprehensive Learning/Teaching Handout Series and contributing author to the ADA Clinical Guide to Counseling and Treatment of Eating Disorders. Sondra received the IAEDP 2010 Certified Specialist Award, the NEDA 2004 Excellence in Treatment Award and the 2002 Sports Cardiovascular and Wellness Nutritionists Excellence in Practice Award. She is a founding member of the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) and currently a media spokesperson for NEDA. Sondra trains professionals, is a national workshop leader, author, speaker, and spokesperson who appears regularly on television including PBS, Good Morning America, ABC, CBS, Fox 5, Dr. Oz, 20/20, and Anderson Cooper.

Randi Zimmerman, LCSW-R, is Director of Psychotherapy for F.E.E.D. Randi is a seasoned clinical psychotherapist treating children, teens and adults. She is a specialist in the field of eating disorders. At F.E.E.D., Randi implements coping skills and behavior transformations related to eating disorders in a group setting. In addition to eating disorders, Randi also has extensive experience with a wide variety of issues and disorders such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, trauma, sexual assault, relationship and behavioral issues. Randi's approach is highly individualized, interactive and relational. Randi earned her Master's Degree from New York University's prestigious Shirley M. Ehrenkranz School of Social Work in Manhattan. Randi is a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP), and the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA), and a former founder and co-chair of the Parent Action Resource Committee (PARC).
