DETAILS: In this presentation, Dr. Shelley will give examples of sedimentation impacts at reservoirs across the United States and provide examples of U.S. reservoirs that are cost-effectively managing sediment for long-term reservoir sustainability.
BIO: Dr. John Shelley is a hydraulic engineer and sedimentation specialist for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District, River Engineering and Restoration Section, where he specializes in sedimentation analysis and modeling for rivers and reservoirs. Dr. Shelley has taught or facilitated training workshops on the topic of reservoir sediment management and sedimentation modeling in Kansas, California, Colorado, Mississippi, and the south east Asian country of Laos with more planned this year for California and Brazil. Dr. Shelley received his BS degree in Civil Engineering from Brigham Young University and his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Kansas.
