Program Description:
Financial planners in the 21st century must be change agents in their clients’ lives.  The roles that financial planners need to assume must expand beyond that of advisor and technical expert, to that of facilitator, advocate, listener and collaborator.  This 4-part session is designed to offer context, new ideas, practical application and opportunity for reflection.

The session is based on an innovative new graduate course that Elizabeth designed and teaches, Introduction to Financial Life Planning.  We will survey the landscape of theories, tools and processes that have been developing over the past 20 years while looking ahead to the demands of the future.

This half day will combine presentation with practice.  We will integrate financial life planning into the entire 6-step process and have the opportunity to do exercises that can improve our impact and effectiveness in our work with clients.  During and after lunch, students from the Golden Gate University course will be invited to share their experiences and learning.  Saundra Davis will share her expertise in applying coaching skills to the delivery of financial planning.  We will end the day by bringing it all together so that you leave with clear take-aways, learnings and a plan of action.

Elizabeth is a frequent speaker, nationally and internationally, on topics focused on
the Art and Science of Financial Planning; Serving Women Clients; 21st Century

In 2012 Elizabeth retired from her financial planning practice at RTD Financial Advisors to focus on coaching and consulting financial planners and firms.  Her passion is in helping new and experienced advisors make a difference in their client’s lives by building innovative client-centered practices, processes, services and deliverables and through their own personal development.  She keeps her attention on the future and on developing innovative methods to enhance the value of financial planning.

Since 2010 she has offered training and consulting to advisors on how to change the conversation with women about money and finances to empower, educate and engage them more effectively.  She trains planners how to become conversational leaders to build trust and generate confidence and readiness for the financial planning engagement.  In addition, she leads firm retreats and is a guest speaker and facilitator for client events around the country.

Elizabeth is on the faculty of Golden Gate University’s MS in Advanced Planning program.  She teaches the course that she designed, Introduction to Financial Life Planning.
