SCERTS® Summer Academy

Presented by Emily Rubin MS, CCC-SLP

Introduction to the SCERTS Model (July 10)

SCERTS® (Social Communication, Emotional Regulation, Transactional Support) is an  innovative educational model for working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families. Participants will learn specific guidelines for helping a child become a competent and confident social communicator, while preventing problem behaviors that interfere with learning and the development of relationships. SCERTS is also designed to help families, educators and therapists work cooperatively as a team, in a carefully coordinated manner, to maximize progress in supporting a child.

SCERTS Implementation & Assessment Training (July 11-12)

These days are for those who have completed Introduction to SCERTS training. This training will move toward implementation of SCERTS in Action by determining developmentally sensible and functional goals, appropriate evidence-based supports, and developing daily planning grids. Participants will learn how to determine a child’s developmental stage, observe natural routines, provide mentorship and collaborate with teachers and service providers to identify key transactional supports, and develop educational plans. A formal assessment will also be introduced with an emphasis on how to use this tool to determine a child’s stage of language acquisition, establish a profile of strengths and areas of need in those areas most impacted by the core challenges of ASD, and monitor progress over time.

SCERTS Manuals can be ordered prior to the workshop. These are not required for workshop attendance.  If you would like a manual, please order from this LINK. Thank you.
