Filial Play Therapy - Intermediate

- 2 Days 

Description:

Filial Play Therapy is a well-researched and highly effective psycho-educational skills training model that integrates “the magic” of Child-Centered Play Therapy and direct parent involvement in the change process. In Filial, the therapist trains parents to become the healer of their own child in a process which enhances the parent/caregiver and child relationship.  The focus is on the present, emphasizing appropriate skills for positive parent/child relationships and for increasing positive attachment. Filial Therapy is an evidence-based model. This 2 day training will include brief lectures, live and videotaped demonstrations, skill building practice sessions, case discussions with video clips which will illustrate both individual and group models of this modality.

This workshop is designed for:

Social workers (LCSW, LMSW, LISW, BSW, AAW), psychologists (Ph.D., Psy.D., Ed.D.) school counselors, school psychologist, professional counselors (LMHC, LCMHC, CMHC, LPC, LCPC), marriage and family therapists (LMFT, LIMFT) art therapists, play therapists, occupational therapists, graduate students, and others in the mental health-related field.  This is an intermediate level seminar which means that individuals who attend should have already received a foundation in play therapy, therapy with children, and/or the topic area being presented.

Presenter:  Karen Pernet, LSCW, RPT-S

Karen Pernet, LSCW,RPT-S, has been in practice for over 25 years and is a national Filial Therapy trainer. She was awarded the 2009 Outstanding Contribution to Filial Therapy Practice & Training Award from the Family Enhancement & Play Therapy Center. Her training has been described as lively, encouraging, and responsive to individual needs, informative, interactive and fun.

Cancellation Policy:

     Written cancellation must be received in our office at least ten working days prior to the training. A $25.00 processing fee will be deducted from your refund. Otherwise, a voucher will be given. If you do not notify us a minimum of ten business days prior to the training of your intent to cancel, you will not receive a refund or credit.  Chesapeake Beach Professional Seminars reserves the right to cancel a training or workshop due to inclement weather or not enough attendance.  In this event, CBPS will provide you with a full refund.  In the event of inclement weather please check your email for CBPS notifications/instructions and/or voicemail phone system.

Change of Instructors:

     CBPS also reserves the right to change instructors if needed to ensure an effective training.  In the event that this takes place you will be notified with the change as soon as possible.

Continuing Education:

NBCC Clock Hours: 12/1.2 CEUs.

     CBPS is approved by the District of Columbia and the Maryland Social Work Examiners to sponsor Category 1 continuing education programs; CBPS is an NBCC-Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP) and may offer NBCC-approved clock hours for events that meet NBCC requirements.  CBPS solely is responsible for all aspects of the program.  NBCC Provider #5763; approved by the National Association of School Psychologists, approval #1067.  CBPS is approved by the Association of Play Therapy; APT Approved Provider 97-034.  CBPS is recognized by SED’s State Board for Social Work, provider #0122 and Mental Health Counselors, provider #MHC-0009 and Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists, provider #MFT-0008 in New York.  CBPS maintains responsibility for this training.

Approved for Clock Hours for Art Therapists (LCAT, ATR-BC) through NBCC.

Chesapeake Beach Professional Seminars provider #1602 is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) www.aswb.org through the Approved Continuing Education (ACE) Program.  Chesapeake Beach Professional Seminars maintains responsibility for the program.  ASWB Approval Period: 5/14/2018 to 5/14/2019.  Social workers should contact their regulatory board to determine course approval.  Social workers participating in this course will receive 12 continuing education clock hours.

CE Certificates:

     After completion of the workshop, participants who have provided payment, indicated attendance via signature & initials on the sign-in sheet that is provided at the workshop, and have completed an evaluation of the course will be given a CE certificate via hard-copy which will be presented at the close of the workshop upon completion of the course evaluation.  A sign-in/sign-out sheet will be provided at the workshop.  In order to receive credit, all participants must indicate attendance by both signing in and out.
