Application Form
Porter County residents and those who work here can learn more about waste prevention, recycling and composting, and meet others who have similar interests in this comprehensive multi-week session. This form is your official application into the program. You will be notified upon your acceptance.

- March 29 – Introduction, waste prevention: Therese Davis, Executive Director; Donna Stuckert, Public Education Coordinator
- April 5 – Waste Flow Process: Christina Lovitz, Homewood Disposal; James Metros, Republic
- April 26 -- Waste Flow Process: Neil Samahon and Olivia Sandars, Metro Recycling; Steve Dolak, Operator, large scale composting
- May 3-- Household hazardous waste: Mike Schroader, Tradebe; water resource management, Reggie Korthals, BF&S
- May 10 – Organic waste reduction, vermicomposting and backyard composting: Master Recycler Barb Kunshek
- May 17 – Graduation at Porter County Administration Center Classroom 102A, 155 Indiana Ave., Valparaiso.
Participants who miss more than one class date above will not complete the course and will not graduate. Class participants must complete 30 Payback (volunteer) Hours to achieve Master Recycler certification.
Participants will receive backyard compost bins.
Since this is an evening class, the following daytime tours are not mandatory, but highly recommended.
- April 10 – TOUR: MRF-Star Disposal Homewood, 11 a.m
- May 1 – TOUR: Valparaiso compost site/Metro Recycling, 1 p.m.
- May 8 – TOUR: Newton County Landfill, Noon in Crown Point
