9th Annual Voices of Change Conference:

Secondary Transition for DC Youth

The Parent/Caregiver Session is just for DC parents, and caregivers of students with disabilities! Learn how to prepare for life after school and how to support your student to successfully transition into employment, education, and independence. There will be an opening session, lunch and breakout sessions to give families in DC resources and guidance; and most importantly you will have time to meet other families and connect with local resources.

  • Opening Plenary Session: "What is Secondary Transition? Why Should I Care as a Parent? and Understanding how your young adult/child fits into DC's system of disability services and supports after school and what you need to do NOW!"
  • LUNCH: "Thinking about Your Child's Future" with table topics & facilitated conversation
  • Breakout Sessions - your choice(s) of one of several options
Connect with resources and advocates, and other parents of students with disabilities to learn about how to prepare your child for life after school!
