Comprehensive Intervention Model: Interactive Writing Intervention

This workshop is designed for kindergarten and first grade teachers to help students learn and apply early reading and writing behaviors.  The intervention focuses on teaching students how writing will help improve reading. Focus is on teaching students how to acquire foundational concepts of print, and how to apply them while composing a simple message. Time will be spent learning the components of the Interactive Writing intervention and the alignment of the intervention to classroom instruction.

Objectives:

  • Explore apprenticeship approach to learning
  • Review zone of proximal development
  • Develop self-regulated learners
  • Teach for transfer
  • Incorporate ongoing assessments
  • Develop format of the intervention (predictable routine)
  • Align to classroom instruction

Audience: Title I and Special Education teachers, Reading Specialists and Interventionists, and Classroom teachers who do interventions 

Prerequisite Workshop: CIM Assessments or other CIM introductory training

Facilitator: Linda Braier

*Each will receive a copy of, Interventions that Work: A Comprehensive Intervention Model for Preventing Reading Failure in Grades K-3, with their registration and receive it on day one of the training. Participants must register by October 12, 2018 to be guaranteed a copy of the text.
