This two-day workshop is geared for first through third grade teachers to help students who are reading at the early to transitional levels of reading and writing, but are lagging behind their classmates. The goal of the intervention is teaching struggling readers to acquire strategies for problem solving while reading and writing and maintaining a focus on comprehending what they are reading. Time will be spent learning the components of the Guided Reading Plus intervention and the alignment of the intervention to classroom instruction.
Objectives:
Audience: Title I and Special Education teachers, Reading Specialists and Interventionists, and Classroom teachers who do interventions
*Prerequisite workshop: CIM Assessments or other CIM introductory training
Facilitator: Linda Braier
Each will receive a copy of, Interventions that Work: A Comprehensive Intervention Model for Preventing Reading Failure in Grades K-3, with their registration and receive it on day one of the training. Participants must register by November 1, 2018 to be guaranteed a copy of the text.
