Neumont Educator Workshop

Neumont College of Computer Science’s President Aaron Reed, Ed.D., and Vice President of Academic Operations Tim Clark present “Learning by Doing: Practices & Pitfalls.”

For 13 years, Neumont College of Computer Science has been refining project-based learning. Our students learn by doing. They immerse themselves in large-scale projects with deliverables and deadlines, often with employer supervision. Project-based learning can work in nearly any curriculum and environment, but it is not without its challenges.

  • How do you assess student work and contributions effectively and fairly?
  • What happens when team members don’t perform?
  • What happens if a team can’t work together due to personality conflicts?
  • How do you help students resolve more of these problems among themselves so a teacher isn’t forced to intervene?

Neumont doesn’t have all the answers but we do have a lot of experience in this area, and we want to help other educators struggling with similar challenges. And, we admit, we love to learn from your experiences as well.

Join us as we dig into ways to effectively turn any type of curriculum into a project-based experience that provides a richer, deeper learning opportunity for students and teachers.
