Workshop Summary: In this workshop you will be told what types of things you need to keep track of in your business, what you should save and why.

What we'll cover:

  • What records(pieces of paper in many cases) you should keep.
  • How effortless and easy saving records can be.
  • Why do you keep them?.....Who will use them?
  • How can my records help to prove tax deductions?
  • Tax deductions for business use of a vehicle.
  • Tax deductions for a home based business.
  • How records can protect you from unpleasant actions.
  • What the IRS expects you to keep, for tax purposes, and how long.

A top-level overview, followed by class involvement in excercises and examples.  Each workshop is taught by an expert on the subject.  Open to the existing or aspiring small business public....No-charge.

Class Instructor:  Bob Wangsness

Bob is a SCORE mentor, recently retired as CFO of a small (60 employee) company.  He has been a CPA since 1980.  Bob has over 37 years accounting experience with 34 years in financial management with small and medium sized businesses.  He also has roughly 1,000 hours of teaching college level accounting courses at Kirkwood Community College.
