Embedding Sustainability in the Corporation and Recent Developments in Corporate Reporting of Sustainability

 With Special Guest Speaker:

George P. Nassos, Director of the MS in  Sustainability Management Program and Executive-in-Residence, DePaul University Driehaus College of Business

Please join us for a joint breakfast meeting of the A&WMA Lake Michigan States Section and the Environmental Committee of the Union League Club on Tuesday, March 20th as Mr. Nassos provides information to help companies gain, maintain or extend their competitive advantage, and how to embed environmental sustainability into their strategic plan. The presentation will include why it is important, how it will benefit the corporation, how the company measures and reports its progress, how the investment community addresses this concept, and how the company uses it as a marketing tool.

Mr. George Nassos has spent 31 years in the corporate world working for International Minerals & Chemical Corp and Chemical Waste Management.  He then taught for 14 years at Illinois Institute of Technology – Stuart School of Business as their Director of the MS in Environmental Management and Sustainability program.  After a 6-year break from academia where he focused on consulting in renewable energy and environmental sustainability, Mr. Nassos became the new Director of the MS in Sustainable Management program and an Executive-in-Residence at DePaul University Driehaus College of Business.  Over the course of his career, Mr. Nassos has written a book “Practical Sustainability Strategies:  How to Gain a Competitive Advantage” and received numerous awards including the Lifetime Hellene Award in 2015 from the Hellenic Bar Association and in 2018 was elected as a founding member to the 5-person Advisory Circle of the Encyclical Working Group for the Chicago Archdiocese in order to implement Pope Francis’ encyclical on protecting the environment titled “Ladauto Si”.
