MBAA District NW Spring Meeting 2018 

Join us for another fun-filled weekend in beautiful Hood River, OR. This year's program will be centered around Raw Materials and QA/QC. Here is a list of the current sessions:

Friday, May 18th

  • 9am-12pm - Brewery Tours (additional email to be sent)
  • 1:30pm - Business Meeting (all are welcome)
  • 3:15pm - Bottle Recylcing - Nick Munson-Phelps, Oregon Beverage Recycling Co-Op
  • 4:00pm - Lab Set Up - Robert Fulweiler, Fremont Brewing
  • 5:00pm - Taste Panel (Wayfinder, Worthy Brewing, Deschutes Brewery)
  • 7:00pm - Dinner
  • 7:30-11pm - Social event a pFriem's Barrel House

Saturday, May 19th

  • 7:30am - Breakfast
  • 9:00am - Hops - Field to Brewery - Shane Dale, BSG Hops
  • 9:45am - Malt Teas - Cassie Poirier, Briess Malting
  • 10:45am - Yeast Counting - David Logsdon, Logsdon Farmhouse Ales
  • 11:30am - Malt Analysis - what do the numbers mean?
  • 12:30pm - Lunch

Meeting location will be the ever popular Best Western Inn located at 1108 E Marina Way. Our room block is under the group name Master Brewers Association of the Americas. Please call 1-800-828-7873 to reserve your room. Cut off date for booking is April 17th, but please book soon as rooms go quickly!

 

TOURS - Friday, May 18th

Double Mountain - they are offering "open house" style tour at their warehouse location from 9am-11am. It is located at 1460 Indian Creek Road. Click the link for directions - DM Tour. 

Thunder Island - they are also offering "open house" style tours at their brewery from 9am-11am. It is located at 515 NW Portage Road in Cascade Locks. Click the link for directions - Thunder Tour.

pFriem Family Brewers - they are offering two guided tours - one at 9am and one at 10am and can accommodate 20 folks per tour. It is located at 707 Portway Avenue, Hood River. Please click the link to register for the tour - pFriem Tours

FRIDAY NIGHT SOCIAL @ pFriem Family Brewers

Our good friends at pFriem have kindly offered to host our Friday night social event at their brewery located at 707 Portway Avenue. PLEASE ENTER FROM THE BACK OF THE BREWERY - NOT THROUGH THE TASTING ROOM. 

We will have a shuttle running in a loop from the Best Western to/from pFriem from 7pm-10pm. It is also a nice 1.2 mile walk along the riverfront! 

HOUSEKEEPING ITEMS

Hospitality Suite - if you can, please bring 4-6 cases of beer to share (or more if you are so inclined). We are currently at 300 attendees registered! Please note, the suite will close Friday night at midnight to ensure we do not disrupt other hotel guests. It will reopen Saturday morning at 9am. Please drop your donated beer off in the suite when you arrive.

Alcohol Rules - due to licensing, open containers CANNOT cross the parking lot. Please keep your beers unopened until you reach the Gorge Room.

Chatter Level - please be mindful of volume level of conversations during the presentations. Our speakers have worked hard on their presentations and deserve your attention...please be respectful of their time.

Everyone is encouraged to bring 4-6 cases of beer for the hospitality suite.

We know that cicrumstances arise and cancellations happen - in order to be fair to all, we have established a cancellation policy:

Full refund offered if cancellation is by April 27th

50% refund offered if cancellation is by May 11th

No refund offered if cancellation is after May 11th
