Drakpo Pema Traktung Retreat
with Namchak Khen Rinpoche
at the Garden of One Thousand Buddhas

Pema Traktung is a practice of Guru Rinpoche in the wrathful form and is the embodiment of all wrathful deities such as Vajrapani, Hayagriva, and so on.  Discovered by the great terton Namchak Tsasum Lingpa, this is a vital practice on the path to ultimate enlightenment and is particularly effective in overcoming the obstacles of negative forces and conditions that hinder spiritual practice as well as for removing the defilements. 

Daily Schedule

Friday, May 4th

Arrive between 5pm - 6pm.  Allow time to load into room, settle in and socialize.  A light meal will be provided at 6pm on Friday night following check-in and announcements.  The empowerment and teachings begin promptly at 7pm at shrine room.  Arrive early to arrange your seat.

Saturday, May 5th

Morning session: 9am - noon

Afternoon session: 2pm - 5pm 

*Possible evening practice or karma yoga on Saturday evening at 7pm.

Sunday, May 6th

Morning session: 9am - noon

Afternoon session: 2pm - 5pm 


Retreat Fee

Resident, Indoor: $150-$200 sliding scale plus Dana.  Includes a bed and three meals a day (Saturday and Sunday).  Please make a payment in accord with your means.

Campers: $125-$175 sliding scale fee plus Dana. Includes three meals a day (Saturday and Sunday).

Commuters - $100 for the weekend.  Lunch is included.

~ Texts will be available for purchase.  Please bring the Cascade of Blessings and the Namchak Concise Ngondro if you already own them. 

 Accommodations 

The sangha house will be open for those who wish to sleep indoors though space is limited.  Register as soon as possible to reserve your bed.  Resident pricing includes a bed and three meals per day.  Please bring personal items such as toiletries, towels, earplugs (for dorm style rooms), water bottle, thermos, etc.  If you are unsure of what to bring, please contact us.

Camping 

Bring your own tent and gear to sleep outside under the stars. Temperatures may drastically vary in May in Montana.  Be prepared for daytime temperatures usually between 50-90 degrees and nights that my drop below freezing.  Please bring appropriate gear for rain, snow or sun.  In the case of extreme or inclement weather, indoor floor space may be available for sleeping. RV’s are also welcome. 

Food 

We provide three vegetarian meals a day in the sangha house beginning with a light sncak meal at 6pm on Friday. There will be a cook for lunch and dinner, however, breakfast is self serve.  We provide items such as nut butters, jelly, cereal, muesli, milk, yogurt (fat-free, regular), fruit, bread, oatmeal, and eggs.  Restricted diets can not be accommodated.  Please feel free to email us your concerns and we'll try to work with you as best we can. 

Air and Ground Transportation

We are 30 minutes from the Missoula airport. There is a section on the registration form for you to list whether you need a shuttle from the airport and your flight details. Depending on how many people are flying in for this retreat you may have to wait at the airport to ride with a group.

Karma Yoga 

All retreatants are expected to participate in approximately one hour of karma yoga daily such as sweeping the floor or weeding the garden beds. Karma Yoga (work service) is time offered to support the needs of the retreat and the center. We greatly appreciate your willingness to help in this way.  You will have the same job every day and it is up to you to trade jobs with people if you prefer. 

Registration

Registration online in advance is required.  Registration closes May 1, 2018.  To pay for the retreat you may either click on the Paypal link on the registration form or mail a check to Ewam.  If payment on arrival is necessary, you must make arrangements with our adminstrative staff prior to May 1, 2018 by contacting admin@ewam.org.
