Summer Reading Program 2018 

Rock with us all summer long for our Libraries Rock! Summer Reading Program at the Richland Community Library! Read books, do fun activities, earn rewards throughout the summer, and explore other cultures through reading, dance, and music.

Rock out with us! 

Friday June 15th from 2:00pm-5:00pm

Come and celebrate the start of summer with Richland Rocks! rock painting activity, rock climbing wall, rocker photo booth and a little ice cream!   You can also pick up your first bookmark so you can start keeping track of your reading!  Starting June 16th, you may visit the Children's Library and pick up your Reading Kit and Reading Timer.

All ages, through 5th grade will be placed in one of our Children's Reading Programs.

Read to Me Only:  This program is perfect for toddlers and preschoolers that are not quite ready to help keep track of their reading.  This program only requires a bookmark to keep track of their reading minutes.  Turn in the completed bookmark to receive a new bookmark and prize from the prize table.

Beginner Readers Club:  This program is perfect for Preschool and Kindergarten ages children who are ready to help keep track of their reading minutes.  In this program, your child will receive a bookmark to record their daily reading minutes (either being read to or reading on their own), and an activity folder to keep track of their weekly minutes along with several learning activities to do at home and at the library when they come to check in to record their time.  Children in this club will receive a prize for every completed bookmark and may be eligible for our end of summer prize drawing and gift card.

Young Readers Club: This program is for school aged children in 1st through 5th grades.  In this program, children will be responsible for keeping track of their daily and weekly reading minutes (either being read to, reading on their own, or reading to someone else).  Each child will receive a bookmark to record their daily reading, an activity folder to keep track of their weekly minutes, along with several learning activities to do at home and at the library when they check in to record their time.

The first 150 registered will receive a reading timer.  Once registered, join us for our Kick Off event on June 15th to pick up your first bookmark and get excited about summer reading!  Starting June 16th pick up you may visit the Children's Library to pick up your Activity folder and reading timer. 

rock_vocal.jpg Teen Readers Club

All children 6th grade and up will be placed in our Teen Reading Program.

Teens will receive a Summer Reading Folder for registering.  This folder will contain a point explaination sheet, library activity sheets, record sheet and book mark for recording points.  Every bookmark returned to the Children's Circulation desk with a total of 25 points can be exchanged for a prize from the gift bowl. 

 The top 3 readers will receive a prize at the end of summer.
