John M. Schroder

State Treasurer

The Central Louisiana Regional Chamber of Commerce invites you to join us to hear from Louisiana's new State Treasurer, John M. Schroder. Treasurer Schroder will discuss the outcome of the state's Special Legislative Session to address the fiscal cliff and issues for consideration during the 2018 Regular Legislative Session.

John Schroder was elected Louisiana State Treasurer on November 18, 2017. As Treasurer, he oversees the state's $5.7 billion investment portfolios. He also chairs the Louisiana State Bond Commission and returns millions of dollars in unclaimed property to Louisiana citizens.

Treasurer Schroder was first elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives in 2007 by a predominantly conservative constituency in St. Tammany and Tangipahoa Parishes. After serving 10 years, he resigned his legislative seat to run for State Treasurer.

Treasurer Schroder is one of the founders of the House Fiscal Budget Hawks. The Budget Hawks are a group of legislators committed to ending wasteful government spending, balancing the budget, and successfully passing legislation to end the practice of using one-time money on recurring expenses. As Treasurer, Schroder says he will continue expressing his opposition to increasing taxes on Louisiana taxpayers, and will continue pushing for a streamlined budgeting process and for overhauling Louisiana’s tax structure.
