SUMMARY:
This is a 1/2-day workshop targeting faculty who have completed the QM's flagship workshop on the QM Rubric and its use in reviewing the design of online and blended courses. Participants will review the QM Rubric and its application for designing and reviewing a course for quality assurance. We will apply the QM process and the QM Rubric to peer review an online course. Peer review will be conducted using the actual QM Course Review Management System (CRMS). The expected outcome of this workshop is to empower participants to evaluate the instructional design of an online course (ideally, one they will be teaching), with an emphasis on how that design affects the delivery of the course. After completing this workshop, QM certified participants will be able to: 1. critically discuss the QM Rubric with particular focus on the Essential Standards 2. review online courses for quality assurance. 3. QM Course Review Management System (CRMS).to evaluate an online course. 4. Write recommendations to improve the quality of an online course 5. Evaluate the instructional design of online courses using established quality assurance standards 6. Design an online syllabus aligned to the QM standards |

There you will also find the Reference Library with Course Review Resources and a video tutorial for the Self Review tool. Here is a video tutorials that explains the process and gives more insights.
2. The Online Faculty
Should Online Instructors Be Online Students?
Two-thirds of faculty members responding to an annual Inside Higher Ed survey say they’ve never taken an online course. Do they need that experience to be capable online instructors?
These COLP best practices attempt to align Moodle courses to the QM standards. These practices are for adoption in a template model course.
4. Best Practices Teaching Online
The link above presents research-based best practices in online learning design and delivery to enhance online students learning outcomes.
