Oakcliff’s very popular match racing drills are run weekly onboard our Match 40s. Coached by Dawn Riley, Jorge Madden or one of our guest coaches or staff. This is a great way to jump start your match racing or improve specific aspects.
Tuesdays are action-packed and depending on conditions, one night we may work on time and distance in the start box, another on top mark situations and yet another on killing a penalty. We even take requests. The fun begins with a pre-brief at Oakcliff at 5:30 and ends with a de-brief where we go over the rules and situations and then may retire to Spinnaker’s a local pub before hopping on the train home.
The drills are designed for sailors who have shown basic racing proficiency, preferably through our Wednesday night fleet coaching and racing or by resume. While no prior match racing experience is required, boat handling and trim skills are assumed.
You can come by yourself or bring friends and we mix and match the teams to match the evening’s drills.
Especially if this is your first Tuesday with us, please make sure your registration is completely filled out.
All participants must read and acknowledge the Oakcliff Sailing Center Safety Rules and Regulations.http://www.oakcliffsailing.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/OakcliffPolicies.pdf
