French Bohemian Travelers Junk Journal

 I'd like to think there is a story behind everything we collect, display or stash away, and what better way to use our collections than an artisan journal with a bohemain twist. In this class Robin will open her treasure chest of 20 plus years in paper crafting and show you as many techniques and tips as she can to create your unique story in this eclectic journal. The beauty of this class is that it is open to all types of adventurous creatives from the beginning paper crafter to scrapbookers, junk journal junkies, mixed media artists, quilters, jewelers, painters...we all have a story to tell. I invite you to bring your personal stash  to create your own in this Bohemian junk journal. If journaling is not your thing, then use them as an arsenal for your personal collections or look book. We will sewing paper, cardstock and fabric for a large part of class, but we will also cover alternatives to sewing. These journals are 8.5" tall and 4.25" wide. They can be used as an insert or on their own.

Here are some techniques you can expect to learn: how to sew cardstock and fabric together to make a beautiful book cover using fusible interfacing, artsy tuck spots, envelopes, tip-ins, flip outs, how to collage glassine and paper envelopes with napkins, create mini collages of scrapbook paper, fabric collages to paper and fabric clusters, tea and coffee dye paper, distress techniques for fabric/paper/rubber stamping/faux avery stickers and stenciling, create full page accordian signatures, make your own paper clips and journal jewelry, make snippet rolls, fabric tabs and ruffled lace, how to bind a journal, how to make mini notebooks and add to journal, how to stamp on metal, 3 ways to design the center fold out and other techniques I come up with between now and the class!

Teacher will have the following available for use: "I will bring extra supplies that students may need, don't have or forget like adhesives, mod podge, binding tape for signatures,  tools to share, rubber stamps, stencils, ink pads, extra papers to make envelopes and mini books, coffee mixture to stain papers, decorative paper punches,  decorative napkins and papers for collage, needles and thread, sponges, paint brushes for everyone, metal stamps, hammers and jewelry pliers, wet wipes, plastic cups, paper cutter.    I noticed on the description you had added a cropodile but I don't really use that for these books."

• Ink Pads (brown and black)

• 1/4 yard of fabric for the cover (upholstery, bark cloth, linen or cotton) favorite scrapbook paper & cardstock

• favorite punches (i.e. 1" circle punch or hold punch tool)
• 1 or 2 favorite stencils
• 1 or 2 favorite stamps
• tacky glue
• Optional: Sewing machine, Jewelry Pliers (round nose, chain nose and flush cutter) &Tape runner (optional) 
   

*If you decide not to purchase an optional kit, please be sure to bring the following: unique bits and bobs, antique paper, tea dyed fabric and papers (book, ledger, dictionary etc), vintage postage stamps, fusible interfacing, laced, wire, dark and brown waxed cord, charms, buttons, glassine etc.
